How to save your laptop battery

Optimise battery usage and performance management settings

Your laptop comes with settings that can help you get more out of the battery. If your laptop’s battery is dying quickly, you can try the following first step: type “battery”, in the Windows search box at the bottom-left corner of the screen. You can then turn on the “battery-saving options” as well as other features that will improve your performance.

Another quick tip is to reduce the screen brightness. On your keyboard, you probably have a sun-like icon or a similar function key. Use the arrow keys and click the icon to reduce the brightness.

Close applications that are resource-intensive

Have you ever forgotten to turn out the lights in a meeting room? Motion sensors are often used in conference rooms to automatically turn off the lights when the room is not being used. This feature helps reduce energy consumption. Similarly, switching off applications that drain your battery can help it last longer.

Close applications that you are no longer using. Are you unsure which applications use up your battery faster than others? Enter “battery consumption” into the Windows search bar. You can view the “battery consumption per app” section in order to see which apps consume most of your battery. For Cheap Laptops, go to https://www.refurbishedlaptops.co.uk/

Change Graphics and Display Options

You may be draining the battery of your laptop if you have a graphics processing unit. Check the battery usage by opening up the “Battery Usage” screen. You can change the graphics settings if you don’t want to see what you are seeing. This will save some battery power.

You can, for example, review your programme settings and assign different applications to the graphics processor chips to reduce the strain on your battery. You can also assign games to discrete graphics cards and all other applications to integrated graphics.
